Pics of the Weekend

The weekend will be rated as two of the most beautiful days of 2016, regardless of what happens the rest of the year. Enjoy pics from the porch, yard and garden.

It had been 39 degrees during Friday night, so I was not up to hanging out on the porch early Saturday. But I put on my foul-weather birding gear, and was rewarded with this early visitor to the garden feeder.

Not two of my favorite birds, but did want to show off the Lady Banks Rose, as it has been a few years since she had a good Spring showing.

Now here is a worthy subject to be photo'd in the Banks Rose.

White-crowned Sparrows still hanging around in the yard.

Female Black-chinned hummer approaching the garden feeder. We have a lively crowd of early Spring hummers this year.

Just a shaft of late day light for this one.

 Male Black-chinned guarding the feeders.

Showing off a little of his purple chin.

Our Amaryllis has never put on a show like this year.

Great Blue Heron saw me and took off, but I was anticipating and got off a few shots before he went out of view.

We close with the Red-bellied Woodpecker and his evening catch, a fat juicy worm, just like in the movies.
