Pics of the Day

And when visiting the feeder, one must always be on the lookout for incoming!

 Yellow pollen on the snout.

Not a great shot, but a Ruby-throated at the ruby feeder.

And a Black-chinned at the blue.

 Amaryllis continues to come on.

And we close with a beautiful day, if you're a duck!
Or a red-eared turtle.

Pics of the Day

Not the greatest, but interesting to see the patterns in the hummingbird's feathers.

The watchman is diligent, and serious.

Got that snoz poked in deep.

 Lickin' her chops.

And we wrap up with our version of Birds and Blooms. Papa Cardinal in front of the pink knockout roses.

Pics of the Day

A brief moment of sunshine and a quick visit to the feeder.

 Black-chinned touching down.

Evidence that we are in the oak bloom season.

 Wings in.

Exit stage right!

Pics of the Day

Look for the opportunities; they always present themselves for your taking!

The magic of the tool. Never could have seen the gnat, except that the eye of the camera captured it for our pleasure.

I have been watching the Lesser Goldfinches for quite a few years now, and never saw a male basking in the sun and spreading his tail feathers.

The male House Finches have a rosy glow these days. Must be courtin' time!

Pics of the Day

Enjoying the flowering plants coming on out, and the hummers are more abundant in the yard than ever before.

The Black-chinned is dancing with a female around the feeder.

She gets a brief respite to fuel up.

Somebody in this trio got a little excited.

The Lady Banks Rose is putting on a pretty good show, and offers a nice backdrop for the Cardinal and feeder.

Ruby-throated does a slow turn and burn.

I'm sure my finger would get singed if I could touch that throat!

Pics of the Day

Cloudy days mean less opportunities for hummers, but more for others.

 Diligent Black-chinned guard.

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, wheezing about in the branches.

They were chasing around, so I laid back trying to catch 'em.

 There they go!

And a moment of peace, however fleeting.

Pics of the Day

Not happy that I had to stay home from work, but always happy to get a few hummer pics.

Female Ruby-throated was hanging around the red glass feeder today.

And the male is ALWAYS around, so they did a little sparring.
