Mornings at the Office

I've continued to enjoy early mornings at the office, and have been blessed with work that limits my photography to that time frame. The hummers have decreased their activity, but some other travelers have taken up the slack. Enjoy this installment.

The Northern Cardinal will usually come around for a little breakfast on the deck.

The Goldfinches are usually some of the early arrivals, and go straight for the thistle sock.

And they are quite feisty early in the morning.

 The male Lesser Goldfinch.

Usually oblivious to the activity around him.

Later in the day the sunlight lights up his yellow breast.

The mature males have their full color on.

Our office had a Cardinal that tapped on the reception room window for years. He has been replaced by this Titmouse, who taps every day on the big window to the east. Obviously going after that good-looking fellow in the reflection.

Just enough early morning light, and still just long enough for a good shot.

The Carolina Wren saying grace over his peanut.

At the house, this Wren was enjoying the sprinkler, and really fluffing up.

A nice surprise at the office deck, a Black-and-White Warbler, female, passing through.

The markings are distinctive enough to set off my bird alert alarms.

The Chickadee and Titmouse both love to grab a sunflower seed, carry it to a nearby branch, and pound it until they can finish off the nut inside.

Of course they say grace first!

Early morning sun in his eyes.

The Chickadees at the house enjoy drinking from this watering dish.

But early mornings at the office, everyone seems to like drinking the condensation running off the roof.

Including Mr. and Mrs. Goldfinch. Also seen this morning were the Titmouse and the Cardinals.

The Ruby-throats are growing scarce at the office.

They'll be headed for warmer climes soon.
