This has been a busy week for the photog, so busy I feel I must split this week's pics into two posts! Otherwise, I'll never get to bed tonight. Some rare visits this week from hummingbirds are in the offing, so enjoy.
The unusual coloring told me this guy was not one of my regulars at the office deck. The Rufous hummingbird spent the day watching the feeder.
When he turned his head just right, you could catch some of those fluorescent orange beads on his neck.
Here's an example of the action all day long around the feeder.
He wasn't cutting the red wasp any slack either!
Didn't see him the next day, so he may have moved on.
The male Lesser Goldfinch displaying his incredibly pure yellow and black.
The thistle wars go on, with lots of bobbing and weaving.
Male and female Lesser Goldfinch.
Come on! There's plenty of room here for more!
As long as the female Painted Bunting is around, there's hope that
the male will be visiting as well.
The Carolina Wrens are busy around the feeders.
Back at the porch, the Gulf Fritillary butterfly enjoying Jan's zinnias.
And a red one!
And a little darker pink one.
We'll wrap up this installment with the Ruby-throated hummingbird that has shown up at the house. Showing a lot of blue and green in that back.
He flashed some of that red-hot throat at me, as well as any other hummer that would dare to approach the feeder. It is a joy to have him back in the yard.
