Pics of the Day

Sprinkler, the only weapon I have against the heat in the yard. And, it is

a draw to the birds.

 Stepping out on the very warm porch, and greeted by this small Praying Mantis.

 Got the water going in the yard, filled up the feeders, and the female Painted Bunting came calling.

 The Chickadee was already up for the shower.

That's right, Bunting and Chickadee showering together!

Just keep an afternoon spray, then a little drip going, and it provides just enough relief to keep our favorites around; Admiral butterfly and maturing (?) male Black-chinned hummer.

 Papa Black-chinned high in the oak above the garden, watching the feeders. I suspect there is a hummer nest somewhere nearby.

 Admiral Hornblower was in the garden today.

 Sampling each of the zinnias.

Unbearably hot in the afternoon, but downright pleasant in the morning. Hummers and butterflies visiting the garden, and a few others as well.

 Low light and distance make this one a little fuzzy, but the kind of pose I love.

 Morning glories mostly come up volunteer around here, but sometimes I need to plant them where I want them.

 Female Painted Bunting checking out the drip in the garden.

 I'll Google these markings and report back later.

 Just had to get a shot of this Blue Jay stuffing the peanuts.

 And one of that glorious painted back.

 The Tiger Swallowtail was in the yard today.
