March Post in One Sitting

It is embarrassing, but you get to view all my March offering in one post. There was plenty of bird activity, so you know that I edited a bunch of pics to bring you this! Enjoy.

There is a volunteer peach tree under our deck at the office that came up from a construction worker's lunch. Obviously the conditions were right this year for a beautiful show of buds.

I hung out one morning and caught a Sparrow among the flowers.

The wintering Sparrows have been plentiful this year, and seem to be staying longer.

Here's a candidate for my blog signature post. We'll see.

I didn't see the White-crowned Sparrow all winter, but he has showed up recently. Maybe just passing through.

The Lesser Goldfinch has been faithful, as long as there is thistle seed in the feeder.

A rare sight indeed; American Goldfinches at a feeder at our house, just off the porch.

A young American Goldfinch.

This American Goldfinch is close to having its summer coat on.

The Red-shouldered Hawk has been active around the pond, and on this day was raising quite a racket as it perched close by.

I saw it lean, and figured it was ready to take flight.

And it came right toward me!

First day of spring, a Black-chinned Hummingbird showed up near the porch.

'Nuff said.

The Possum Haw Holly is busting out, and the Cardinal offered a pose.

The Gadwalls have gone north, but stayed a few days into Spring.

I just had to share a picture of their feeding when the weeds were low. Just dunk, and you can get them.

The female Gadwall.

The Great Blue Heron in flight. Interesting hues of gray in the wing.

This is a traveler that paused at the office for a snack on his way north. The Black and White Warbler neither winters nor summers in Texas; just passin' through.
